As speculation about who the eventual GOP presidential nominees seems to be in full swing earlier than ever, two men who are benefiting the most from this should take a lesson from history.
In 1984, after the reelection of Ronald Reagan, the media practically declared that the Democratic nominee in 1988 would be NY governor Mario Cuomo. In 1992, Cuomo was similarly declared as the nominee. Yet a Cuomo candidacy or Presidency never happened.
In 2008, the media declared Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani the nominees. Yet neither of these happened. Giuliani, after being the declared frontrunner all along, saw his campaign crumble after someone in his camp decided it was a good idea to skip the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary.
Therefore, Huckabee and Romney should not get too comfortable with their frontrunner status this early in the game. Either one would make fine candidate and a fine president. However, they should heed the lessons of history and let the process take its course.

Left Side – You are probably correct. Obama will win since there are more moochers that vote than producers. Promise all things…a chicken in every pot is a tried and true electoral strategy. The sad thing is it probably really does not matter if Obama, Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee or whom ever wins, the federal government continue to grow in size and we will keep going deeper in debt.

Doesn’t matter who the Republican nominee is, Obama will be overwhemlingly elected to a second term in 2012.

I think Jeb Bush will be the nominee when it’s all said and done
